We love the Lakes. On our visits over the years, we have stayed in a variety of accommodation, of varying suitability, from climbing huts to camper van, to the odd B&B and self catering cottage, always nurturing the dream that one day, we would have our own place which would be just perfect.
We thought long and hard about what we wanted for our perfect 'holiday life'. We wanted space and views. We wanted aesthetic interiors and somewhere to park the car. We wanted a great bathroom and somewhere we could take the dog that we don't even have yet.
Of course, alongside the things that we wanted, there were things that we didn't want too. We didn't want small pokey dark rooms and we didn't want a major renovation job. We didn't want a tiny, sunless back yard and we didn't want dodgy plumbing.
Given that most new-build property in the national park is under a local occupancy restriction, and given that we hadn't won the lottery, a lot of lateral and creative thinking was called for - and the result is Mulberry Lodge.
Mulberry Lodge has been designed, from scratch, by us, and prefabricated by a team in a factory in Carlisle, making it's journey to it's current home by tractor, low loader and a bit of grunting.
Situated on a prime site on Skiddaw View Holiday Home Park, Mulberry Lodge really has got everything we wanted. (Apart from the dog.)
